A new federal student loan repayment plan goes into effect this month that could dramatically reduce payments for highly indebted borrowers.Called "income-based repayment,"
It's the newest of six repaymento ptions for federal student loans. Repayment doesn't base payments on a set payoff date. The payments are based on the borrower's income. The less you earn, the less you pay. This plan says that any borrower who has faithfully made payments for 25 years can have his or her remaining loan balance forgiven or wiped away at the end of that time. In addition, if you work for government or a nonprofit and repay for 10 years, you could have your loan balance wiped out under the Public Service Debt Forgiveness program. Depending on your income, your debt and the number of people in your household. If you are single and earning $20,000 annually, the most you'd have to pay against student loans is $47 a month. The program is only available for federal student loans under the Stafford, Grad Plus and federal consolidation loan programs. It applies only to Perkins Loans if they're consolidated into the Federal Family Education Loan or Direct Loan programs. The Project on Student Debt Website at tulsaworld.com/ibrinfooffers a calculator. The EducationDepartment calculatoris at tulsaworld.com/studentaidgov. Gather your loan information, showing New student loan repayment plan based on income: balances, type of loans and lenders. Then contact your lenders. If your lender will not offer income-based repayment, call the Education Department at 1-800-4-FED-AID and look into consolidating your qualifying loans into the federal government's Direct Loan program. Smart Driving-
Clean out the junk in your car's trunk and interior. The extra weight is a drag on efficient gas mileage -- about a 2% reduction per 100 pounds of weight. Ditto loading up the rooftop luggage rack and adding bike racks, so remove these between road trips. And sorry, Coco and Max: Dogs and their drivers might love leaving the car windows down as they travel on the highway, but that creates a strong drag that is even worse on the car's fuel efficiency. Roll up the windows and hit the AC when driving at high speeds.

How to save on wrapping paper.
Instead of purchasing different types of paper buy a universal color, like yellow or green. This type of paper can be used for any occasion. Great idea, I always need little boy paper but have little girl paper on hand. You can use the same 'yellow' paper for Mother's Day or Father's Day.
Senate Bill 658 increases the daily penalty to $1 a day from 25 cents a day for those with an expired tag.

Pink Piggy Vol. 1 Issue 2
Moment is right for first-time home buyers:
Oklahoma’s real estate market has remained reasonably robust. Interest rates remain near historic lows and homes sell for bargain prices, coupled with Washington’s firsttime home buyer tax credit, now is the ideal time to purchase a house. The 2009 home ownership tax credit is a free cash credit to your pocketbook. The credit is not a loan and does not have to be repaid. The home buyer cannot have owned a home in the last
three years. Prospective buyers must purchase and close on the home between Jan. 1 and Dec. 1, 2009, and must also maintain the home as
their primary residence for at least three years. A reimbursement of 10% of the cost of a home up to $8,000 can be claimed on the buyer’s 2009 return or as an amendment to the 2008 return. This means $8,000 in cash that can be used to furnish or remodel the home or be used to supplement the down payment. Home ownership in Oklahoma is attainable and can be just around the corner. The application process is easy, quick and affordable. Contact your local lender for details.
